Extrusion Process
Extrude XLPE insulation onto the conductor and complete crosslinking of XLPE.
Extrude and vulcanize an EPDM buffer layer over the precrosslinked XLPE insulation, then pass through a steam CV line to finish vulcanization of the EPDM cushion layer. (Note: During EPDM vulcanization, the layer is only bonded physically to the XLPE surface by hightemperature compression, no chemical covulcanization occurs. Adhesion shall be achieved by formulation optimization of the EPDM compound.)
After cooling, extrude the outer thermoplastic HFFR sheath.
